Police Won’t Rule Out Terrorism In Truck Crash That Injured 5 In DC

Hank Berrien

On Thursday night, after two police bike patrol officers, a traffic aide and two pedestrians were struck by a pickup truck at a busy Washington D.C. intersection, the D.C. Police Chief would not rule out the act being a terrorist act.

D.C. Metro Police Chief Peter Newsham was asked if terrorism could be ruled out, but would only say, “We have to look at that very closely. We do not have a motive at this time.” He added that he was unaware if the officers were targeted because they were police, and that one of the officers is in “very critical” condition. The other officer and the traffic aide has serious but non-life threatening injuries.
