The Missouri Democrat who made a comment on Facebook about hoping for President Trump’s assassination just re-tweeted a Holocaust reference to justify her decision not to resign over the Facebook comment.
State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal came under fire for writing “I hope Trump is assassinated!” in response to a comment on Facebook. She deleted that comment, but it has been immortalized through screenshots; Chappelle-Nadal is now resisting pressure from her own party to step down.
Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens (R) went a step further and called for the state senate to expel Chappelle-Nadal from her position if she won’t resign.
Chappelle-Nadal was irked enough by Greitens’ call that she felt the need to retweet a reply to her that stated, “Greitens should know where the Trump Train goes. At the end of the line this place!” The tweet featured a photo of a concentration camp.
The embattled state senator must have undone the retweet because it’s no longer on her Twitter page, but again the internet is forever, as the Washington Free Beacon has a screenshot of it.
Comparing Trump and his supporters to Nazis is particularly distasteful when considering the fact that Greitens happens to be the first-ever Jewish governor of Missouri. The Free Beacon reached out Chappelle-Nadal’s office for comment but they didn’t respond.
The more Chappelle-Nadal rebuffs calls to resign and uses social media, the worse the situation will be for her. She should just resign and delete her account before she beclowns herself even further.
