Casa Girl, a website run by a woman from Brooklyn, New York, has sold out of its latest product: “Privilege Cards.”
Privilege Cards are exactly what you think they are. On the front of the small paper product is a message surrounded by exclamation points, reading: “Uh-Oh! Your privilege is showing.” On the back, the card reads: “You’ve received this card because your privilege just allowed you to make a comment that others cannot agree or relate to.” Underneath the message are check boxes with points of “privilege.”

The Left has an obsession, and this obsession goes back decades. They would rather knock one segment of the population down that lift another up. One can see it in progressive economic theory. Rather than create economic conditions to benefit the poor, they prefer to take money from the rich.
This backward way of thinking can be seen socially as well. Instead of encouraging minorities to speak openly, the “Privilege Cards” demand that straight, white, Christian men shut up. The “check you privilege” meme is simply a verbal fascism designed to oppress the alleged oppressor rather than liberate the oppressed.
Such behavior isn’t accidental. By keeping people down, progressive politicians keep alive the narrative that the “non-privileged,” otherwise known as their voting base, are victims, and that the Democratic Party is their only source of salvation. Were they to lift people up, the narrative would be torn asunder, and the Democratic Party would lose its constituency.
The late Margaret Thatcher put it best when she was questioned about income inequality by her opposition in the House of Commons:
“What the honorable member is saying is that he would rather that the poor were poorer, provided that the rich were less rich…So long as the gap is smaller, they would rather have the poor poorer. You do not create wealth and opportunity that way. You do not create a property-owning democracy that way.”
Progressives would rather have minorities economically and socially crippled, provided that the privileged are crippled as well.
