Just when we think the media couldn’t possibly dial it up any higher regarding President-elect Donald Trump, they prove us wrong: On Wednesday, Politico’s Julia Ioffe actually suggested that Mr. Trump is “f***ing his daughter,” Ivanka.
But here’s the best part: Ioffe made the disturbing suggestion based on a report that the Trump team claims is not even true. #AmazingJournalism
“Either Trump is fucking his daughter or he’s shirking nepotism laws. Which is worse?,” wrote Ioffe, linking to a piece from The Hill. (The tweet has since been deleted, but you can view the screenshot below.)
Ioffe lost control of herself when it was reported by CNN that Ivanka Trump might be moving into the office in the White House that is typically reserved for the First Lady. Trump’s wife, Melania, has already confirmed that she will not be moving into the White House, at least not until their son Barron finishes out the school year.
Twitter reacted accordingly:
But, as aforementioned, this report doesn’t even look to be true: “A spokesperson for President-elect Donald Trump is pushing back on a report that Ivanka Trump will get an office in the space typically reserved for the first lady,” reported The Hill, just hours after the CNN report was made.
“This is false. No decisions regarding Ivanka’s involvement have been made,” said Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks.
Ioffe later tweeted her apologies:
So, yeah, if you were hoping that the press would learn from their overreach with Trump and maybe earn back some credibility by showing restraint so we can actually have a fourth estate keeping our leaders honest, you’re out of luck.
