They started popping up around University of Connecticut the month after Donald Trump won the White House.

And from December 2016 to March of this year, someone was vandalizing campus buildings, more than 100 times in all, with grafitti.

“F*ck Trump,” some said. Others had a crude drawing of Trump with the word “pest.”

Police at the the university identified the vandal through surveillance cameras and tracking a swipe card used on the campus. They even installed extra cameras to track him down, the Hartford Courant reported. Cruz-Lopez was seen in the areas hit by grafitti around the times vandalism was reported to occur, police said.

Then police arrested Eric Cruz-Lopez, 21, and charged him with 103 counts of criminal mischief.

“I did the graffiti,” he wrote in his police statement, the Courant reported. “I am open to entering into a conversation about restitution.”

“He said he was unwilling to limit his anti-Trump slurs to paper and said ‘pest’ is his graffiti signature, according to the warrant, the paper reported.

Cruz-Lopez, who reportedly is a former student at UConn, is a community organizer for CT Students for a Dream, an organization that advocates on behalf of undocumented immigrants, the Daily Mail reports. “And has described himself as one too,” the paper says.

The university spent $4,255 to remove the graffiti and restore each site to its original state, UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said. Cruz-Lopez has not yet entered a plea and is due back in Superior Court in Rockville on June 14.
