As her excuse tour for why she lost the election trudges on, Hillary Clinton is now championing herself as the woman ringing the alarm bell about Russia meddling in the election.
Clinton told CBS’ Stephen Colbert that the Russians clearly sought to influence the election, citing the latest reports about how they used Facebook to push ads.
“I feel like I’m a bit of a Paula Revere,” said Clinton. “I’m trying to sound the alarm about this.”
The statement was met with mild laughter and clapping from the audience.
Clinton explained that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to “sow doubt” about America’s democracy.
“He wants to undermine how we see each other, how we respect each other, how we support our institutions and our society,” Clinton said.
The former secretary of state added, “I think that they believe they had a good outing in 2016 and will be in 2018 and 2020 unless we stop them.”

Paul Revere, of course, was known for warning the American colonists that the British were coming, giving them time to prepare for war. Is Hillary Clinton the heroic figure warning Americans that the Russians are coming?
Answer: No.
Clinton’s record shows no effort of trying to crack down on Putin. In fact, the Clinton Foundation invited Putin to an event in 2009, and in 2013 Clinton bragged about bonding with Putin over preserving wildlife. She also criticized Mitt Romney in 2012 for warning about the danger Putin posed to America. And then there are the deals between the Clinton Foundation and the Russians.
There’s no question that Russia is attempting to undermine America’s democratic institutions and it does warrant attention, but Clinton is hardly the so-called “Paula Revere” that’s going to prepare the Americans for a fight with Russia. The only reason she is even discussing Russia is to deflect from the fact that her own shortcomings as a candidate caused her to lose in November.
