Two-time failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton faced widespread backlash on Friday for appearing to mock the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States as she attacked President Donald Trump.

Clinton made the highly controversial remarks in a tweet that linked to a New York Times report that said that the U.S. had more coronavirus cases than any other country in the world despite the fact that experts have cast serious doubt on the accuracy of the numbers being reported out of China.

Clinton tweeted, “He did promise ‘America First.'”

The tweet was an obvious shot at the president as “America First” was a central campaign theme of his 2016 campaign where he beat Clinton.

Clinton’s remarks were widely ripped on social media by notable accounts who were horrified by her remarks.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) tweeted: “Delete your account. This isn’t the time. This can’t be the new normal, where American tragedy is applauded for the sake of political opportunism.”

Former Senior White House Adviser Cliff Sims tweeted: “1. Please keep talking because you’re the greatest political gift any Republican could ever hope for. 2. It’s no surprise you’d promote this, which lets the Chinese—who are undoubtedly lying and continuing to cover up the scale of their outbreak—off the hook.”

Dana Loesch tweeted: “Pandemics and loss of life are funny, apparently. Stuff like this is why you lost.”

Chad Felix Greene tweeted: “Of all of the awful, cruel, heartless, vindictive and petty things you are associated with, this will certainly be remembered in the top 5. Alongside, ‘What difference, at this point, does it make.’ You are a genuinely bad person.”

Mark Hemingway tweeted: “In 2016, was it the Republican or Democratic presidential candidate that was overly deferential to foreign propaganda and insulted rivals at the drop of hat? Because right now, I’m having a hard time differentiating.”

Nan Hayworth tweeted: “Gloating about America’s affliction while implicitly giving credibility to CCP’s lies is a disservice to the nation, Madame Secretary.”

Josh Jordan tweeted: “Spiking the football because we now have more confirmed coronavirus cases than any other country (yes, I know China’s data is likely not correct) is a really bad look for Hillary, yet it should surprise no one that she tweeted it out.”

ForAmerica tweeted: “What a s***ty human being you are. Go back in the woods.”

Kyle Kashuv tweeted: “Wow. Gleefully boasting thousands dead, families broken, millions of unemployed claims, and widespread suffering just to own Drumpf. My god. This is despicable.”

John Cooper tweeted: “People are sick, people are in desperate economic straits, people are losing their jobs, and her contribution is to revel in it just to dunk on a political opponent. This tweet is horrific.”

Adam Moussa tweeted: “clapback queen!!!!!! i’m shook! my organs are liquifying!!!! give the gay social media intern a RAISE and SOME MASKS honey. is the whole HRC Digital team quarantined without internet and she had to send this herself? Why the f**k is this still up [?]”

John Noonan tweeted: “World is in the middle of a global pandemic. Her instincts are not to help but to jeer from the cheap seats. All this tweet accomplishes is to remind people that it was Trump who put her there.”
