This Connecticut High School Won’t Use The Word ‘White’ in Cheers Anymore

Last week, censorship at a public high school that you’d only expect to see on an episode of South Park became a reality: Following the precepts of political correctness, a literal PC Principal at a Connecticut high school suspended the word “white” from his school’s cheers, a frequently chanted word since East Hampton High colors are blue and, yes, white.

Principal John Fidler posted a note about the suspension earlier last week, as captured below in a report by Eyewitness News 3:

“Given the current social climate across our country, our use of the ‘White’ cheer is under suspension,” reads the seemingly parodic note. “Please show your pride in our town and in our school through other means when cheering on your teams.”

Superintendent Paul Smith agreed with the sentiment, telling Eyewitness News 3 that he worries that the cheer may appear “insensitive.”

“It’s kind of outgrown just being done in our gym and at pep rallies and there’s a time and a place where the cheer is appropriate and a time when it may appear insensitive,” said Smith.

“In road games, we’re dressed in blue, and even though it’s still the senior tradition to say white, white, white, over and over, I think the context is not understood by everybody,” he added.

The cheer being censored by the school is years old and goes as follows: “We say blue, you say white, blue, white, blue, white.”

I know, uniform colors are so racist.

Students yet to be brainwashed by the administration at East Hampton High ridiculed the inane notion that the chant of school colors has anything to do with race at all.

“It’s not really that big of a deal to me or to any of our sophomore class. I don’t understand why it’s a problem now,” said East Hampton sophomore Kylie O’Brien.

“[T]his stuff has me outraged they are trying to take a simple chant that our school has done for years and years. They are trying to make it about race,” wrote Jordan Michnowicz, via Facebook.

“[W]hen the seniors cheer all they say is white. [T]hey don’t say white power or anything involving race they are just saying white,” posted student Brandon Kochuk.

After receiving criticism that the school was stifling their students’ free speech over manufactured outrage, Smith backpedaled…sort of.

“[Fidler] is not telling them what they can say and can’t say in the gym at the games. He wants them to come but he also wants them to reflect the positive things they do outside of the gym as well,” stated Smith.

People still scratching their heads over the Donald Trump win are adorable.
