CNN Blames Global Warming For Bad Coffee

   DailyWire.com

If you don’t like your coffee, CNN knows just what’s to blame.

Global warming.

You would think that global warming would, at the very least, keep your cup of joe steaming nice and steaming hot, but that’s not what fits CNN’s agenda, as the network reports: “What will it take for people to care about climate change? For some, the thought of a crummier cup of coffee in the morning just might do it.”

To buttress its obsession with climate change, CNN cites a study published in Nature Plants showing 60% of the suitable farming land in Ethiopia could be lost by the year 2100 because of global warming because of a paucity of rain and rising temperatures. The rising temperature can force coffee to ripen too swiftly, thus the beans have less flavor.

World Coffee Research reports that by 2050, the demand for coffee will have doubled while suitable land for growing it will be cut in half. Ethiopia is the fifth-largest exporter of coffee in the world.

CNN notes that Ethiopia’s average annual temperature increased by 1.3 degrees from 1960 to 2006, and rainfall has decreased by 15% to 20% since the 1970’s.

The Nature Plants study states, “The mean annual temperature of Ethiopia is projected to increase by 1.1-3.1 degrees Celsius by the 2060’s, and 1.5-5.1 by the 2090’s, depending on the emission scenario.”

But here’s where the rubber meets the road; the study also buries this statement within a long paragraph: “The strong variability within Ethiopia’s annual and decadal rainfall makes it difficult to detect long-term, country-wide trends.”
