Cecile Richards Calls ‘Natural Family Planning’ Insane While Birth Control Linked To Suicide

America’s queen of child sacrifice, CEO of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards, has called proponents of “Natural Family Planning” (NFP) “insane,” dismissing them as backward rubes with no grasp on science.

In an interview with former magazine editor Tina Brown at the Women in the World Texas Salon, Richards extolled the virtues of the birth control pill while slandering NFP as the superstitious “rhythm method.”

Her comments came after accusing the Trump administration of “going after birth control access,” saying it will turn back the reduction in overall abortions since Roe v. Wade. She said that as Planned Parenthood’s own abortion rate has increased.

“We just have seen a leaked memo that basically says that they’re going to try to redirect all the family planning program, where millions of women, how they get access to affordable birth control, to now begin to use it for fertility awareness,” she insisted. “But to really redirect it away from ‘artificial’ family planning to ‘natural’ family planning.”

Then Brown interjected, “You mean we’re going to go back to the Rhythm method?”

Richards confirmed, “Yes, back to the Rhythm method.”

“It’s completely insane,” Richards added. “We provide birth control to millions of people every year, and what we usually call folks who come to us who use the Rhythm method, is parents.”

“I guess we have to laugh to keep from crying,” Richards concluded.

As noted by LifeSiteNews, that “leaked memo” putting her stomach in such knots, said nothing about “Rhythm method” and only about “fertility awareness.”

As any Catholic, or Protestant for that matter, can attest, NFP is a scientifically-proven practice of spacing out pregnancy by avoiding sexual intercourse during a woman’s fertile period. Thanks to advancements in Napro technology and fertility monitors, NFP can be as easy as a click of a button, and it’s 98% effective, and women don’t have to pump themselves full of chemicals that create havoc for the environment.

According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), “studies show that couples who follow their NFP method’s guidelines correctly, and all the time, achieve effectiveness rates of 97-99%.”

Rather than maligning religious folk who wish to live within natural law, Cecile Richards would do herself better to warn women about a recent study that linked the birth control pill to increased risk of suicide. Here’s what TIME had to say about it:

In a study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, researchers in Denmark report that women taking hormonal contraceptives — like birth control pills, the patch, the ring and hormonal IUDs — have up to triple the risk of suicide as women who never took hormonal birth control.

The absolute risk of suicide associated with hormonal contraceptives is still extremely low, say the researchers, but the data suggest it’s worth studying and understanding further.

The same researchers reported last year that hormonal contraceptives were linked to a 70% higher risk of depression, which itself is associated with suicide. Because of that connection, in the current study, the researchers looked specifically at contraceptive use and suicide. They used a national study that tracked all women ages 15 and older who were living in Denmark from 1996 to 2013. The study analyzed prescriptions and filled prescriptions for contraceptives, as well as deaths and causes of death, and compared women taking this type of birth control to women who did not have a history of contraceptive use.

That is truly insane.
