The California NAACP wants to <a href="http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2017/11/07/naacp-national-anthem-racist/">get rid of The Star-Spangled Banner</a> as our national anthem, calling it &#8220;racist&#8221; and &#8220;anti-black.&#8221;
Alice Huffman, the California NAACP&#8217;s president stated, &#8220;This song is wrong; it shouldn&#8217;t have been there, we didn&#8217;t have it &#8217;til 1931, so it won&#8217;t kill us if it goes away.&#8221; Huffman said that the protests against the anthem started by former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick were launched with an intention that later got transformed; she stated, &#8220;The message got distorted, the real intentions got overlooked, it became something that&#8217;s dividing us, and I&#8217;m looking for something to bring us back together.&#8221;
