After a 15-year-old girl from the U.K. was raped by man at Birmingham’s Witton railway station, she flagged down a driver for help; that man also raped her. Sky News reports:
Police said the first attack happened this week in an isolated part of Birmingham’s Witton railway station, between 7pm on Tuesday and 2am on Wednesday.
The girl had walked to the station with her friend before being led away by a man who then raped her.
She left the station shortly after the attack and flagged down a passing vehicle to ask for help.
She was then raped again after getting into the second man’s car.
Both suspects, described as “Asian” men in the early 20s by British media, remain at large.
It’s important to note that the British press is known for cloaking any potential connections to Islam when reporting on such horrors by describing suspects of Pakistani or Indian descent as “Asian,” as is likely the case here with both rapists. Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro elaborates:
In America, Asian has a different connotation than it does in the British press. It generally means people of Pakistani or Indian descent, not people from Southeast Asia, as it does in the United States. It’s also often a cover for Islamic background — the press will generally avoid talking about the religion of a suspect in favor of focusing in on ethnicity, and they’ll broaden out the ethnic label to include people who aren’t Pakistani in order to avoid the impression that the Pakistani perpetrator might be a Muslim.
According to Sky News, Transport Police and West Midlands Police detectives have launched a manhunt for both attackers:
The first attacker is described as having light skin, brown eyes, a skinny build and is about 6ft tall.
He was wearing a tracksuit and black trainers.
The second attacker is described as being around 5ft 7in, of large build with a close-cropped beard, wearing a blue jumper and black jeans.
“My detectives are currently examining all available CCTV in an effort to identify the offenders and whilst these enquiries are made, we are keen to speak with any potential witnesses,” said Detective Chief Inspector Tony Fitzpatrick.
