Attempting to smear Donald Trump and his supporters as anti-black racists, CNN’s Jake Tapper asked the New York City billionaire to repudiate the support of white supremacist and former Democrat David Duke.
A press release from the mostly Democrat-aligned Anti-Defamation League highlighted Duke’s support for Trump, and called on the Republican front-runner to repudiate the racial nationalist.
“Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don’t want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election?”” asked Tapper.
Missing an opportunity to shame Tapper and CNN with its transparent attempt to smear him as a racist and beneficiary of anti-black racism, Trump delivered a somewhat evasive response.
“I don’t know anything about David Duke, okay? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So, I don’t know. I don’t know, did he endorse me, or what’s going on? I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists, and, so you’re asking me a question that I’m supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about,” replied Trump.
Over the course of several interviews with Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders, Tapper has never asked either to condemn the support of anti-American racial hate groups such as Black Lives Matter.
Tapper presents himself as an objective journalist.
Days ago, Trump mockingly said he disavowed Duke's endorsement.
Left-wing personalities across Twitter responded predictably. The same persons who regularly deride Trump as not knowing enough about American political goings now expect him to be familiar with fringe characters like Duke.
