The dumb mistake White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made in stating that Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons, when in fact the Nazis killed millions of people with poison gas, was outrageous, and his clarifying remarks were equally as stupid, but there’s one famous leftist who only four years ago also claimed Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons: MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.

Spicer initial foray into fiction came about when he was attempting to compare Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Hitler by pointing out the Nazi government did not release chemical weapons on the battlefield during World War II. Spicer said, “You had someone as despicable as Hitler who didn't even sink to using chemical weapons.” When reporters asked him to clarify his remarks, he continued, “I think when you come to sarin gas, he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing …. But in the way that Assad used them, where he went into towns and dropped them down to innocent in the middle of towns.”

Over 150,000 German Jews were gassed by the Nazis; that doesn’t count the millions more gassed in Nazi death camps

Spicer later apologized, stating, "I mistakenly used an insensitive and inappropriate reference to the Holocaust … I apologize for doing that."

With the flood of criticism pouring in from all corners, it might well be pointed out that in 2013, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews said the exact same thing:

The problem is, I don’t like it, first of all I’m rather dovish, I don’t like what I’m going to say but it’s true. If you basically put down a red line and say don’t use chemical weapons, and it’s been enforced in the Western community, around the world — international community for decades. Don’t use chemical weapons. We didn’t use them in World War II, Hitler didn’t use them, we don’t use chemical weapons, that’s no deal.

Here’s the video of that:

In addition, another current prominent leftist offered her own slam at Spicer:

Except, of course, Sarsour hates Israel, the home of the Jewish people:

And thinks that the ancient land of Israel never existed:

When you consider Matthews’ statements that echo Spicer’s, Jew-hating Sarsour and her criticism of Spicer, and the fact that the Obama Administration actually aided Iran to accelerate its nuclear weapons program, thus increasing the likelihood of an existential threat to the Jewish state, a clear perspective emerges; Spicer may have said some stupid things, but compared to the Left’s acceptance of Jew-hating and enabling of Jews’ mortal enemies, Spicer’s remarks mean very little at all.
